According to SAM Seamless Network, more than 1 billion IoT attacks took place in 2021, nearly 900 million of which were IoT-related phishing attacks. There were close to 62 million DDoS attacks in 2021.
The most vulnerable devices were routers (46%), access points and extenders (17%-17% each), NAS (5%), VoIP (4%), cameras and smart home devices (3%-3% each).
IoT attacks move quickly, hackers craft attack vectors that spread rapidly, while firmware vendors take weeks or months to discover, resolve and patch a vulnerability.
